چکیده

Abstract. This master thesis discribes a new dense spatio-temporal motion segmentation algorithm with application to tracking of people in crowded environments. The algorithm is based on state-of-the-art motion and image segmentation algorithms. We specifically make use of a mean shift image segmentation algorithm and two graph based motion segmentation algorithms. The resulting motion segmentation is on the one hand accurate and on the other hand computationally efficient. In addition our method is capable of handling mutual occlusions. This shows that motion segmentation can efficiently be used to simultaneously detect, track and segment moving objects. We apply this to tracking people in surveillance videos, but the algorithm is not limited to this class of scenes.

A Multiview Approach to Tracking People in Crowded Scenes Using a Planar Homography Constraint

Occlusion and lack of visibility in dense crowded scenes make it very difficult to track individual people correctly and consistently. This problem is particularly hard to tackle in single camera systems. We present a multi-view approach to tracking people in crowded scenes where people may be partially or completely occluding each other. Our approach is to use multiple views in synergy so that...

Multiple Occluding Objects Tracking Using a Non-Redundant Boundary-Based Representation for Image Sequence Interpolation After Decoding

In this paper we present a boundary-based representation of a motion-based image sequence segmentation. A tracking algorithm is associated to this structure which is able to handle several objects simultaneously, in the presence of partial occlusions. This segmentation representation uses the boundaries between all couples of adjacent regions approximated by a polygonal line. We extend it with ...

Tracking complex primitives in an image sequence

This paper describes a new approach to track complex primitives along image sequences integratingsnake-based contour tracking and region-based motion analysis. First, a snake tracks the region outline and performs segmentation. Then the motion of the extracted region is estimated by a dense analysis of the apparent motion over the region, using spatio-temporal image gradients. Finally, this mot...

Long-term moving object segmentation and tracking using spatio-temporal consistency

The success of object-based media representation and description (e.g., MPEG-4 and –7) depends largely on effective object segmentation tools. In this paper, we expand our previous work on automatic video region tracking and develop a robust-moving objects detection system. In our system, we first utilize innovative methods of combining color and edge information in improving the object motion ...

Grouping-Based Low-Rank Trajectory Completion and 3D Reconstruction

Extracting 3D shape of deforming objects in monocular videos, a task known as non-rigid structure-from-motion (NRSfM), has so far been studied only on synthetic datasets and controlled environments. Typically, the objects to reconstruct are pre-segmented, they exhibit limited rotations and occlusions, or full-length trajectories are assumed. In order to integrate NRSfM into current video analys...
